Love is in the Air, Lizzy and Lee Standing by the Tree ...

My sister, Lizzy, and her fiance, Lee, stopped by in April to catch up and have dinner. We ordered calizones from Sarpinos, drank Diet Coke and laughed the night away. Of course I made sure to capture a few B&W images before the sun settled in for the night. I don't think the word happy can even begin to describe how they make each other feel. But we must start somewhere and I think that is a good word to start.

Lunch at Bar Louie with Julie Keller, President of The Mama Ada Foundation

I met up this week with my good friend Julie Keller, President and Founder of The Mama Ada Foundation, at Bar Louie. Julie is in the midst of planning a trip to Kenya this August, supported by a generous grant from Syngenta. This trip heralds a new project in order to "pilot a new diagnostic process tool aimed at identifying local barriers to empowering smallholders and improving rural communities." [1] "No two farm fields are alike. Neither are the constraints, risks and challenges faced by smallholder farmers seeking to enhance their production and improve the quality of life for their families and communities." [2] It is always a joy to speak with Julie. Her passion and devotion to empowering our Kenyan friends is beautiful to behold and experience. Julie is full speed ahead planning not only for this August trip, but for the annual Mama Ada Foundation Gala held in November.

We both recommend the Blackened Fish Street Tacos. I had the Fire & Ice Julep (5 stars!).
